No Stomping in December

Hey everyone, I’m sorry to say that Jungle Swing has cancelled the remaining Stomp it Off! dances for 2011. That means there will be no Stomp it Off! Swing Dances at the Grandview Legion in December.

That said, there is still ample opportunity to Swing Dance in Vancouver. Head out to Rhythm City’s Strut on Thursday nights at Saint Michael’s Hall, Royal City Swing in New West on Friday nights, and Suburban Swing on Sundays! Happy Dancing everyone!

Movember Stomp – The Final Week

It’s the final week of Movember for Jungle Swing and we have even more great music for you at Stomp it Off! We’re finishing the campaign with DJ Lucy spinning all night long. Of course, you’ll be asking yourself the single most important question of the month: “Who in the Vancouver swing dance scene has the greatest tache??”. You will find out this Saturday! Join Jungle Swing’s Urban Mo Team and donate to Movember in support of Men’s Health and make your presence known. It’s moustache season.

Please make a donation to the Urban Mo Team and help out with the fundraising this year. Your donation can be as little as $5.00, yet that $5.00 can make a difference. Check it out, give them a thumbs up, and make that donation.

This Saturday at the Drop-In Swing Dance Lesson, Lucy and Walker will be teaching Jig Walks. You’ll want to check that one out.

We’re also coming up to the Christmas break, and as a result we’re offering something a little different at Stomp it Off! You can now purchase very nice, high quality, Chinese fans at the front as a gift for yourself or someone else. Alex, one of our newer dancers, is importing fans from Wangxingji Fans which has been making fans for 100 years. These guys do it right. We’re talking silk, linen, lacquered bamboo, the whole nine yards. While the photo below makes them look good, you have to check them out in person to really do them justice.

New to the whole swing dance thing? Yeah, there’s lots to learn, from Lindy Hop to Charleston and Balboa, but you can get yourself started at the Stomp it Off! Swing Dance with our Drop-In Survival Tactics™ Swing Dance Lesson from 8pm to 9pm. From there, get out on the dance floor and practice what your learned. The Stomp it Off! Swing Dance goes from 9pm to 1am every Saturday night. No excuses. Get out and dance!

Pirate Swing! Yarrrr….

This Saturday at the Stomp it Off! Swing Dance we’re having our annual Halloween bash. This year’s theme… PIRATES! Get into your best sea dog getup or show piratey support with your cool costume. We’ll have a costume show-down and, of course, lots of dancing and great music. This week’s DJ’s are Joel and Mark, so you know the music will be fantastic.

We’ve also got some great prizes for top costumes this Saturday. Thanks to Rhythm City Productions for two free passes to the Rhythm City Strut on Thursday nights and to Royal City Swing for two free Friday night guest list spots. Dress it, work it, dance it!

If you’re new to Swing Dancing and the Stomp it Off! experience there’s no need to worry. We have a Drop-In dance lesson at the beginning of the night starting at 8pm. This Saturday, Jungle Swing has DJ Lucy spinning the tunes at the Stomp it Off! Swing Dance. With one of Vancouver’s favourite swing DJ’s on the job, it’s going to be a great time, so get out to Stomp it Off! and get your Lindy Hop going. Vancouver’s Stomp it Off! Swing Dance this Saturday

Hello all! We here at Jungle Swing hope that you enjoyed your Thanksgiving weekend and are fully recovered from the turkey comas that have been plaguing the country for the first part of this week. It was a happy, turkey and trimmings filled Thanksgiving for the crew here at Jungle Swing headquarters and we have finally sloughed off the aftermath ourselves. Now, it’s time to exercise. What better way to drop those potential pounds than to get out and do some Lindy Hop at the Stomp it Off! Swing Dance this Saturday night.

This Saturday we’ve got the ever popular DJ V on the rig with one of Vancouver’s up and coming DJ’s, Miracle Matt. This guy can spin a set like nobody’s business, so the venerable V is in for a challenge. Who will get you on the dance floor the most with the best swinging jazz? Who will have you busting out your Charleston, Lindy Hop, and Balboa moves? There’s only one way to find out. Get yourself out to the Stomp it Off! Jungle Swing’s Stomp it Off! Dance this Saturday

This weekend at the Stomp it Off! Swing Dance, Jungle Swing has DJ’s Larry and Lucy, two of Vancouver’s best Swing DJ’s! Of course, we have one of the best dance floors going as well, so don’t miss out on the fun this weekend at Stomp it Off!, Vancouver’s biggest weekly Swing Dance event. To all you regulars, come on out and get your Lindy Hop, Balboa, and Charleston on. With Lucy DJing, there may even be a Big Apple…

Actually, the chances are good that you’ll see a Big Apple. Heck, there might even be a Shim Sham…

If you’re new to the whole Swing Dance thing, come out for the 8pm Drop-In Swing Dance Lesson. It’s included in your cover charge for the night and it will give you those all important survival tactics for the dance floor. You’ll also meet a bunch of people, probably much like yourself, who are giving this Swing Dance thing a shot for the first time. Don’t be shy! Swinging into October!

We’re leaving September and heading into October. That can only mean better nights at Jungle Swing’s Stomp it Off! Swing Dance more people in classes with Rhythm City’s great Lindy Hop lesson series. Put the two together and you’ve got the best Swing dance experience in Vancouver. For those new to Swing dancing, check out Rhythm City’s Intro to Swing Classes starting September 29th!

This Saturday night at Stomp it Off!, we’ve got DJ’s Angie and Mark for your musical entertainment. Get out and enjoy the show, do some dancing, and, if you’re new, make sure you hit the Drop-In Swing Dance Lesson starting at 8pm.
