Hi Jordan,

All of the events are beginner friendly. The swing dance scene here in Vancouver is very welcoming! Showboat on Thursdays down at Kits Beach is a great way to get out for a casual event while learning a little on the side. Take lessons as well. Check out what Rhythm City has to offer at www.rhythmcity.ca.

As for being single, not to worry. You'll dance with everyone out there.

Hey, I am looking to get into swing dancing this summer. Any recommendations on a beginner event? Also, I am a guy who would be going alone, is that alright or do you need a date for these things? Thanks in advance! -Jordan

I'm not sure who they were. There have been quite a number of performers on Granville already this summer and I have only seen a small number of them. You can email the DVBIA and ask them. They may know who the kids were.

Cheers,
Darren

Hi Amanda,

For Lindy Hop Lessons and information, you can contact the fine people at Rhythm City Productions, http://www.rhythmcity.ca. You can register right on the website or on one of their registration sheets that I make sure are out at the Saturday dance. You can also talk to Lucy from Rhythm City at the dance or through the email or phone number on the website and she can answer questions for you regarding Thursday/Saturday class switching.

Cheers,
Darren

I am interested in the Lindy Hop lessons on Thursday and Saturday's.

How much are they?
If I sign up for Thursday nights can I go on a Saturday if I miss a Thursday?

How do I register?

Thanks,
Amanda

Noodly is a great word for it, though there has been some exception taken to the articles by lovers of this type of Jazz. Often, though, these are the same people who will look down on those of us who can't get into their music. We're intellectually stunted or just have no appreciation for good music. Not so! We have an appreciation for good music... just not noodly music.

I just want to give you +100 points for using the word "noodly" to describe inaccessible (to me, uninteresting) jazz.

Seriously. "Noodly"!!
